Small business awards announced

Small businesses operating in a number of industries in Ireland could soon have their efforts honoured in this years small business awards.
An Taoiseach Brian Cowen recently announced the launch of the new awards, which he said will highlight and showcase the entrepreneurial talent on offer in Ireland.
The awards are again to be sponsored by the Small Firms Association (SFA).
Avine McNally, acting director of the organisation, commented: "Small businesses are both different and important they are different because they are managed by people who take risks and important because they create jobs.
"The SFA National Small Business Awards recognises the vital contribution of the small business sector."
Glenisk, an Offaly-based catering firm, which scooped the top prize in last year's food and drink category, said the win gave the firm a "tremendous boost", resulting in the spirit and the profile of the company moving to "the next level".
