Targeted support for the hospitality sector announced
Following the announcement by An Taoiseach last Friday that new public health restrictions will be imposed on the hospitality sector and indoor events from Tuesday, 07 December to Sunday, 09 January 2022, the Minister for Finance has announced targeted support for the hospitality sector in response to the further public health restrictions imposed on the sector.
The new targeted scheme will be modelled on the COVID-19 Restrictions Support Scheme (CRSS). Businesses that expect their turnover to be below half of what it was in 2019 will qualify for this additional support. The payment will amount to 12% of their turnover for the same week in 2019 up to a maximum weekly payment of €5,000.
More details are to be released this week and we will keep you updated on our website when this happens.
Further announcements this week include:
- The COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment (COVID-PUP) will reopen for applications for workers impacted by the latest restrictions. Details will be announced over the coming days.
- Extension of the current targeted commercial rates waiver for the first three months of 2022.
- EWSS will continue at its current rates.
