COVID-19 Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme extended

On Friday, 5 June the government announced that the COVID-19 Wage Subsidy Scheme has been extended until the end of August.

The scheme, that was set up in March, was originally meant to run for 12 weeks but has been extended as many businesses still need this key financial support as the economy slowly reopens after lockdown.

The scheme is aimed at employers negatively affected by the pandemic. It provides direct financial support to pay workers to enable businesses retain their employees.

Any businesses who are reopening over the coming weeks and are looking to rehire staff can qualify for the scheme once the eligibility criteria are met.
